St Helens forward facing tribunal as eight players handed bans

Eight players have been banned following Round 12 of Super League action, with St Helens prop Matty Lees being referred to tribunal.

The 25-year-old has been referred to a tribunal by the Rugby Football League’s match review panel over a Grade D strike in their 26-12 win over Salford on Saturday.

Lees, an England international, will appear before the independent panel on Tuesday night, where he will learn his fate.

Meanwhile, his St Helens team-mate Curtis Sironen will miss their trip to Halifax in the Challenge Cup sixth round on Friday night after being given a one-match ban for a Grade B dangerous contact in their win over Salford.

Leeds forward Zane Tetevano has been banned for two matches for a Grade C dangerous contact in their 40-18 win at Wigan. The Cook Islands international was sent off in the first half for a high and late hit on Wigan half-back Harry Smith.

Castleford will be without prop Liam Watts and winger Bureta Faraimo for Sunday’s Challenge Cup tie with Hull. They received one-match penalty notices for Grade B dangerous contacts in their loss to Catalans last Friday.

Hull KR prop Sauaso Sue has been banned for one game after receiving a Grade B dangerous contact charge in their 21-14 defeat at Warrington on Friday night. The former Samoa international will miss Friday’s Challenge Cup tie against Batley.

Huddersfield will be without Nathan Peats for Friday’s Challenge Cup clash with Salford. The Australian hooker has received a one-match penalty notice for a Grade B dangerous contact in their loss to Leigh on Friday.

Hull prop Scott Taylor has been banned for one match due to a Grade B dangerous contact in their win at Wakefield on Thursday. He will miss Sunday’s game at Castleford in the Challenge Cup.

Wakefield will be without forward Kelepi Tanginoa for Friday’s game against Leigh due to a one-match suspension. He was handed a Grade B dangerous contact charge from their loss to Hull on Thursday.
