Penrith flyer Michael Jennings has been ruled out for up to six weeks after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday’s 23-10 victory over Gold Coast.

Jennings, who earlier in the match had grabbed his first NRL try of the year, has had scans which showed a grade 1 ankle syndesmosis.

A statement from the Panthers said: “The high ankle sprain will mean Jennings could be sidelined for up to 6 weeks depending on how quickly the injury heals.”

A surprise choice by New South Wales coach Ricky Stuart, Jennings grabbed a first half try for the Blues during their 16-12 defeat in game 1.

Jennings joins Timana Tahu and Michael Gordon on the club’s injury list.
