Hunslet have bolstered their squad for 2020 with the arrival of Jack Ray and Jack Aldous.

Young prop Ray has agreed a one-year deal at the South Leeds Stadium after capturing the attention of Head Coach Gary Thornton.

He struggled for game time at Dewsbury, but impressed for Coventry, scoring once in nine matches as they finished ninth in Betfred League 1.

On the news, Ray said: “Wherever I’ve played I’ve had the same approach, to give everything I have.

“I’ve a strong work ethic and bags of enthusiasm and my approach is straightforward – to simply get in there and get involved.”

Meanwhile, the highly-rated Aldous arrives on a one-year deal from Newcastle.

He made 22 appearances for Thunder last term and has agreed a move to Hunslet, despite interest from other clubs.

Head Coach Gary Thornton added: “This is a major signing for us. He is a proven performer at Betfred League 1 and has been an integral part of Newcastle’s pack for the past few seasons, having previously impressed at York, where I coached him in 2014.

“Jack is really well respected within the game and I know he was a target for other clubs, including a couple of high profile Championship clubs, so his decision to join us is a real coup.”
