I am a regular freelance writer for Love Rugby League since 2019, specialising in features and breaking news from a vast contacts book of players, coaches and officials.

You will see me behind regular features such as our popular Ultimate Team and My Life in League articles, as well as breaking exclusive stories from both the Super League and Championship where I have spent most of my adult life working as a broadcaster, commentator and writer.

After starting my career at TEAMtalk.com in 2000, I set off on a rollercoaster radio career in 2003 that saw me present shows for TalkSPORT, commentate on rugby league for BBC Radio Leeds and then move to London to work for BBC Radio 5 live and BBC television.

I have been fortunate enough to cover World Cups, European Championships, Olympics, Wimbledon, World Snooker finals and much more, winning Sony Gold awards for presenting 5 Live Breakfast and 5 Live Sport.

I presented the EFL Football League highlights show on Channel 5 for two seasons in 2015-2017 but my main love has always been rugby league, where I was fortunate to present the BBC’s flagship Super League show, as well as being lead commentator for 5 live for Grand Finals, Challenge Cup finals and major international finals.

I also wrote an exclusive rugby league blog for BBC sport for 10 years, breaking exclusive stories, offering unique behind-the-scenes insight and informed insight from a life in league.

I am a Leeds boy and grew up on the terraces at Headingley Stadium, falling in love with rugby league after failing in my bid to make it as a professional footballer with Leeds United.

Despite spending my whole career in sports broadcasting and journalism, I was actually heading in a different direction – gaining a BA Honours French degree at Liverpool University.

Alongside my rugby league work, I am also a proud ambassador for the mental health charity State of Mind Sport, where I am also fully-trained as a Mental Health First Aider, in bereavement and trauma support and in suicide prevention.

Despite my advancing years I remain active as a competitive footballer and have completed nine marathons and counting.
