Women’s round-up: Castleford attract record crowd against Bradford

Castleford attracted a record crowd of 1,492 for their Women’s Challenge Cup win over Bradford.

Saints battered local rivals Wigan 36-0 in the quarter-finals of the Cup at the Totally Wicked Stadium. They will face Leeds in the semi-finals.

The Rhinos demolished Championship outfit Warrington 74-0 as they aim to retain their Challenge Cup trophy.

Castleford – who attracted a record crowd of 1,492 for their 48-8 Challenge Cup quarter-final win over Bradford – have been drawn away at neighbours Wakefield.

Both semi-finals will be played on Sunday, July 7. One of them will be shown live on the Rugby Football League’s Our League channel, with the winners earning places at in the Challenge Cup final at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday, July 27 – which will kick off a triple header including the men’s Challenge Cup semi-finals.

The semi-finals draw was conducted live on BBC Radio Leeds by Featherstone skipper Andrea Dobson and former referee Julia Lee.
