League 1 round-up: Crusaders stun Whitehaven, Newman field goal, Hunslet run riot

The performance of the weekend came from North Wales Crusaders.

North Wales Crusaders pulled off a shock as they edged past league leaders Whitehaven 24-22 at the Recreation Ground.

Earl Hurst, Kenny Baker, Rob Massam (2) and Karl Ashall scored for the Crusaders.

A last minute field goal from Nick Newman sealed a 19-18 victory for Newcastle Thunder against Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Joel Edwards, Liam McAvoy and Mikey Lewis scored for Thunder.

Oldham beat Workington Town 26-16 at Borough Park.

Dave Hewitt, Danny Langtree (2) and Ritchie Hawkyard went over for the Roughyeds.

Keighley Cougars produced a good performance to stun London Skolars 38-26 at Cougar Park.

Jordan Parry, Jason Muranka, Jordan Aitchison, Jack Miller, Ryan Wright and James Feather all crossed the whitewash for the Cougars. Skolars forward Robert Tuliatu was sin-binned in the first half for a dangerous tackle.

Hunslet ran in 13 tries to demolish West Wales Raiders 72-10 at Stebonheath Park on Saturday.

Gareth Potts (3), Jack Lee (2), Jimmy Watson, Reece Dean, Vila Halafihi (2), Adam Robinson, Ben Heaton (2) and Nathan Chappell went over for Hunslet.

Whitehaven sit top of the League 1 table, while Hunslet, Oldham, Newcastle, London and Doncaster occupy the other spots in the top six.
