Tigers to send Ellis out on a high

Benji Marshall says Wests Tigers will be aiming to send departing team mate Gareth Ellis out on a win when they meet Melbourne on Saturday.

The Tigers’ hopes of making the finals hang by a thread following last weekend’s defeat to the Roosters but Marshall says giving Hull FC-bound Ellis the best possible send off will be a priority.

The match at Leichardt Oval will be Ellis’ final home match as a Tigers player.

“Gareth has been our player of the year for the last three years and definitely one of the best players I’ve played with and one of the best blokes off the field as well,” Marshall told the Tigers’ official website.

“I know for myself and probably for the rest of the team we’ll be trying to do our best for Gareth’s last home game anyway.

“I’m sure the fans will turn out for him as well because he’s been such a great credit not only to himself but to his family as well and a great addition to what he’s done for our club.”
