Swinton hand Jack Hansen contract extension

Swinton have given utility Jack Hansen a new one-year contract.

The 22-year-old – who is comfortable at full-back and half-back – was named the club’s Young Player of the Year in 2018.

Hansen was voted Swinton’s Player of the Month in June and is the son of former Tonga international Lee Hansen.

Lions coach Stuart Littler commented: “Jack is a player who has been with us since I got the head coaches role and he has developed every year as we knew he would.

“The best is still to come from Jack, which is really exciting as he is already one of the hottest prospects in a strong Championship competition.

“I have known Jack a long time and we have a mutual trust as he knows I want the best for him and I know he always wants to deliver the goods for us.

“Jack is from a proud family and together with his partner Sophie, they have become a big part of our Lions family and they have really bought into everything we want to be about.”

Hansen added: “I’m really happy to have extended my stay at Swinton.

“I’m loving my rugby here and playing with some of my best mates. We’ve got a really good set of lads and it’s probably the closest group I’ve been involved with. The coaching staff have been great with me and I feel my game has improved massively since I’ve joined and hopefully they can get me to the next level.

“I feel we can build something really special here with our group, Andy and the rest board so I’m really excited to be a part of it for at least another season.”
