Salford Red Devils have confirmed that they are appealing four charges issued by the match review panel following the side’s Super League defeat to Wigan.

The Salford Stadium outfit will appeal the suspensions handed to King Vuniyayawa and captain Kallum Watkins with a crucial home clash against Warrington Wolves this Sunday in Round 24.

Watkins, 32, was handed a Grade B high tackle in the 26-8 defeat to Wigan at the DW Stadium, resulting in a one-match ban.

Fiji international Vuniyayawa received two separate one-match suspensions for Grade B high tackle and Grade B dangerous contact respectively.

The forward, who penned a new two-year deal earlier this week with the club, was sent to the sin-bin for a high shot on opposition playmaker Bevan French in the second half.

Salford are also appealing the Grade A dangerous throw charge handed to loose forward Oliver Partington. However, the 25-year-old is still set to miss Sunday’s game against Wolves after being charged with an additional Grade B high tackle.

The club have also confirmed that they are not challenging the Grade B other contrary behaviour handed to full-back Ryan Brierley. The Scotland international escaped a ban and was fined £250.
