Billy Slater has recovered from a shoulder injury and will appear for Melbourne in their opening round clash with Manly.

Slater, 27, has been named at his customary position of fullback for the clash with the Sea Eagles on Saturday, after undergoing surgery in the off-season.

Elsewhere, Storm coach Craig Bellamy has named England full-back Gareth Widdop at five-eighth and new recruit Jaiman Lowe at prop.

Anthony Quinn marks a the end of a long spell on the sidelines with selection on the wing.

The club will be hoping to use the match as a ‘clean slate’ following salary cap revelations which marred the 2010 season.

Assistant Coach Kevin Walters said Storm supporters have an important role to play in helping the players make a good start

“I know the fans here in Melbourne are very vocal for their support of the home team,” said Walters.

“From my playing days coming to Melbourne I always remembered their fans are as good as anywhere across the country.

“The players will be aware of that and are looking forward to Saturday night’s match, it should be a great atmosphere and the fans will provide that no doubt.”
