Wigan winger Dom Manfredi was very pleased with the way his team defended in their 24-12 win over St Helens at Langtree Park on Good Friday.

After a more attacking first half, Wigan showed resolution to keep the home side down to 12 points in the contest.

“It was a real good performance,” Manfredi told Sky Sports.

“We ‘D’d up superb in that second half. The amount of goal line ‘D’ we did was a lot!

“We stuck in there in the second half, and the amount of defending we did to keep Saints to a low score is really good.

“We played well in the first half, and then in the second half the ‘D’ we did kept them out.”

Manfredi also felt that the win would provide the team with more impetus to do well against Hull KR on Monday at the DW Stadium.

“It’s massive, it really kicks on our season,” he added.

“It’s a big confidence boost, and we’ll be going into Monday confident.

“We’ll be doing lots of recovery this weekend, and straight into it Monday.”
