Wigan full-back Zak Hardaker has been handed a driving ban and fine after admitting drink driving last month.

Hardaker, 26, was arrested in Pontefract on September 25 and charged the following day.

He was given a 20-month ban from driving and received a fine of £1,810.

Still banned from playing rugby league for cocaine use, Hardaker was able to start training with his new club at the beginning of last month.

Leeds Magistrates’ Court heard that he attempted to avoid police officers by taking his car down a cul-de-sac and running away on foot.

The Warriors have said they will not comment on the matter until after this Saturday’s Super League Grand Final against Warrington at Old Trafford.
