Warrington coach Daryl Powell has confirmed that young prop Ellis Robson has joined Super League newcomers Toulouse on a one-month loan deal.

The 23-year-old has yet to make a first team appearance for the Wolves this season. He will join French club Toulouse for the next month in search of game time.

Powell said: “Ellis has been really keen to play. We had a reserves game called off last week and he was with us in Toulouse.

“For him it’s been hard. Me and him were having a meeting everyday so I just thought it was the right thing for him as a player so he gets the opportunity to go and play for a month in Toulouse.

“He will be looking to show me that he should be in this team. I wish him all the best over there, I hope he goes outstandingly well.”

Robson is comfortable playing prop or back-row, but Powell sees the youngster as more of a prop moving forward.

Powell added: “It is something I’ve spoken to him about. He plays in the middle and he does a good job there, obviously he hasn’t got a chance yet.

“If Toulouse play him in the back-row then Toulouse play him in the back-row. For me, he just needs to get playing at the moment.

“I wouldn’t say he wouldn’t play in the back-row, but Ellis Longstaff would be in front of him as a back-rower so I’d see Ellis more as a middle man.”

Robson has made nine appearances for Warrington since making his first team debut in 2019.
