Leeds captain Kevin Sinfield has won the inaugural Rhino Top Gun award after ending the regular season with the highest goal-kicking percentage in Super League.

Sinfield landed 94 goals from 107 attempts in the 27 rounds of the regular season with a 87.85 per cent accuracy record ahead.

Jamie Foster of Bradford Bulls was second with an 84.81 per cent record, landing 67 successful goals from 79 attempts, whilst Danny Brough of Huddersfield Giants was third with a success rate of 84.10 per cent (127 goals from 151 attempts).

Sinfield will be presented with the first ever Rhino Top Gun trophy at the Super League Man of Steel awards dinner at Old Trafford cricket ground on Monday September 30 when the 2013 season’s most influential player will also be crowned.

“It’s an honour to pick up this award but all the credit has to go to my team-mates as without their efforts I wouldn’t be in a position to score those goals,” said Sinfield.

“It is their determination and dedication that puts me in a position to add the points and for me, making sure that I make the most of every opportunity presented to me to add to their work is more important than individual accolades.”

Managing Director of Rhino Rugby League Tony Colquitt said: “Kevin Sinfield’s immaculate goal-kicking has guided the defending champions to a third place finish this season and it is fitting that he is the winner of the first ever Rhino Top Gun award.

“With Kevin set to lead England’s hopes in Rugby League World Cup 2013, I am sure this will not be the last award the Rhino Top Gun picks up before the end of the year.”

The Rhino Top Gun Award was open to all players who attempted a minimum of 50 kicks at goal during the regular Super League season.

Sinfield was also a three-time winner of the Rhino Top Gun of the Month award, which was open to every player who had a minimum of 10 attempts at goal during the month.

The monthly winners each received £100 of Rhino Rugby balls to donate to a junior Rugby League club of their choice.
