Oldham RLFC coach send wishes to chairman

Head coach Stuart Littler commented: “It goes without saying that all members of the squad, the coaching staff and the medical and support staff wish Chris a speedy recovery and a return to his duties as soon as he feels well again.

“I’m keeping in touch with him and the lads have been messaging him with their good wishes. All our thoughts are with him at this difficult time.”

League 1 campaign

Stuart Littler will take charge of Oldham for the first time in 2022. The Ireland international coach arrived on a two-year contract covering 2022 and 2023.

He will be assisted by Brendan Sheridan, who has already spent two years at the club as assistant.

The role will combine with his continued Ireland duties, who will feature at this year’s Rugby League World Cup.

He was most recently in charge with Swinton in 2021, before leaving the club.

In his playing career, Littler made more than 450 career appearances. He began his career at Salford, before joining Leigh.

The Ireland international also represented Rochdale and Swinton in his career. He led the Lions to their highest finish in 21 years – ninth in the Championship table in 2019.

Oldham will play their home games at Vestacare Stadium in 2022. They open their campaign against Keighley on March 27, before travelling to Hunslet.

League 1 news

West Wales Raiders have appointed former player Ashley Bateman as their new head coach ahead of the 2022 League 1 season getting underway.

The former player has been in charge on a temporary basis since the previous coaching team left before they even kicked a ball in 2022.

Every game from Cornwall’s maiden season in League 1 will be live streamed via Our League, the club has confirmed.

Rugby league’s newest professional club will kick off their season April 2 when they travel to North Wales Crusaders.

Their first home game will take place on April 10, against the rebranded Midlands Hurricanes.
