Hull KR’s new recruit Korbin Sims says he is excited to experience a Hull derby.

The Fiji international has linked up with the Robins on a two-year deal from 2021 after making almost 150 appearances in the NRL.

Sims, who has earned nine caps for Fiji, has begun pre-season training with his new club and can’t wait to be involved in a derby clash against Hull FC.

He said: “I’m looking forward to that. A couple of the boys have been in my ear about it and they’ve told me about the North Stand filling up and having the songs so I’m really hoping the Covid stuff gets sorted and we’ll be able to get crowds in before then.

“Hopefully we can get the stadium rocking in red and white and black and white, and we’ll be able to put on a really good show.

“I’ve played in a couple of derby games throughout my NRL career and there is just something a little bit more to it. There is a lot of pride and passion and they are good fun because that’s what you want to do, you want to play your best football.

“There is no better time than a local derby during the middle of the year because our fans get a kick, their fans get a kick and the players on the pitch get a kick.

“I know the feeling of playing in front of 20,000 at a derby game before so I’m really looking forward to getting into Craven Park and filling it out or even the KCOM Stadium and filling their stadium out.”

Last week Hull KR announced their 2021 squad numbers, with Sims being handed the number 10 shirt.
