Hunslet make double swoop

Jordan Andrade and Jimmy Watson have signed deals with Hunslet for 2020.

Jamaica prop Andrade joins the League 1 club on a one-year deal from Championship outfit Dewsbury.

Hunslet coach Gary Thornton said: “I’m delighted we’ve got Jordan on board. I saw him play for Jamaica against England Knights when he was very impressive.

“We’d verbally agreed terms at that stage and I knew that several other clubs were interested in him. We had to work to get him but happily he’s decided to come to us.

“The challenge now for Jordan is to get fully fit, which shouldn’t be an issue as he can expect regular rugby.

“He’ll be a big figure for us, he’s got punch and he’s a big unit; we’re building a strong pack after losing Michael Haley, Adam Robinson and Mike Emmett.”

Full-back Jimmy Watson has signed a new one-year contract with Hunslet. He has scored 63 tries in 169 games for the club since 2013.

Thornton said: “Jimmy has been an integral part of Hunslet for many years now.

“He has a great relationship with the fans, who see him as one of their own, and his passion for the club shines through.

“He is a very popular and well respected player amongst his team-mates and peers. I’m really pleased Jimmy will be here next season to help us push on and hopefully improve on last season’s outcome.

“There is no doubt he will be giving everything to the cause on the pitch as he always does when he pulls on a Hunslet jersey.”
