Castleford help local church food bank

Castleford Tigers are helping out the local Smawthorne Community Church food bank this Christmas, along with Christchurch at Xscape.

The food bank is a straightforward system of collection, collation and distribution of basic food items, intended to support people at times of crisis.

Since opening in June 2013, the food bank has helped many people in the Castleford area.

The food bank is based at the Smawthorne Community Church, Beancroft Road. It is run by volunteers from the Church, with support from other churches in Castleford.

“Christmas is an important time of year when we all come together with our loved ones, friends and family,” said Steve Gill, Castleford CEO.

“But it’s important we don’t forget about those less fortunate than ourselves at this time.

“Our 2015 Season Tickets are available for collection from Monday 16th December from the Tiger Bar here at the Jungle, and we’re asking all fans if they can to bring along a non-perishable food donation.”

Castleford Tigers will have a collection point in the Tiger Bar at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle. The collection point will be open Monday 16th December to Friday 19th December.
