Workington have announced the re-signing of centre Calvin Wellington for 2020.

The 23-year-old came through the academy at St Helens before enjoying a spell in rugby union with Welsh side Dragons. He joined Town midway through 2019, making nine appearances.

Workington coach Chris Thorman said: “We’re really pleased that Calvin is with us for 2020.

“When he played last year he gave the team a real boost and gave us some real quality on an edge.

“As an outside-back, he has a lot of the physical attributes needed to succeed at the highest level.

“If he has a strong pre-season then I am confident that he can be one of the best centres in the competition.”

Wellington added: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Town last season and that made the decision to sign on again very easy.

“It’s a great club with talented players and an excellent coach and coaching team. I look forward to getting a good pre-season under my belt as we look to challenge for promotion again next season.”
