Bradford Bulls have signed youngsters Corey Johnson and Muizz Mustapha on loan from Leeds.

The duo have been named by Bulls head coach John Kear for their opening 2022 Championship fixture.

Both Johnson and Mustapha featured for Leeds in their pre-season victory over Bradford at Odsal. They now link up with the side on loan.

Kear’s side travel to the Tetley’s Stadium on Sunday, January 30, to face Dewsbury in the opening round of the new campaign.

Bradford Bulls new recruits

Jordan Baldwinson, Ryan Millar, Kieran Gill, Dec Patton, Sam Scott and AJ Wallace could all make their competitive debuts for the club. Johnson and Mustapha have also been named in the club’s 21-man squad.

Jordan Lilley will miss the next eight weeks of action after suffering a PCL injury. The former Leeds half-back sustained the injury in training for Bradford.

Pre-season

Bradford began their pre-season campaign at home to Batley. They fell to a 28-22 defeat, with Sam Scott scoring on his first appearance for the club.

Their first pre-season victory came just a week later against a young Hull FC outfit. Kear’s side ran in seven tries to claim a 42-18 victory at Odsal. Tries from Kieran Gill, Tom Doyle, Ben Evans, David Foggin-Johnston (2), Elliot Kear and Coby Nichol.

Their most recent clash came against Leeds. The Bulls went into the half-time break with a 12-0 lead, but Leeds came out on top in the second scoring 30-unanswered points.

Both Johnson and Mustapha started for Richard Agar’s side in that clash.
