Youngster lands new deal with Featherstone

Drew Darbyshire

Featherstone have handed young full-back Dakota Whylie a new one-year deal.

Whylie, 20, hasn’t featured for Rovers in 2019 due to a serious knee injury that he picked up in pre-season.

The full-back or winger will remain at Featherstone until the end of 2020.

Whylie said: “I’m really buzzing to have signed a new contract, it was a real shame that I got injured and have missed this year but I’m really grateful to Featherstone.

“Hopefully I’ll be back for pre-season but I am taking it steady and making sure that I’m 100% ready to go before I try and come back.

“Ryan Carr is a coach that really knows what he is doing and I’m excited to be staying at the club in order to develop more under him.

“The rest of the coaching staff and physio team are fantastic too and have given me nothing but the best support throughout this injury.”
