Samoa international Young Tonumaipea has left Gold Coast Titans to take up an opportunity in Super Rugby.

The 28-year-old joined the Titans on a train and trial contract this season after two years out of the game while serving a Mormon mission in Germany.

Tonumaipea made 10 appearances for Justin Holbrook’s side in 2020 and has earned five caps for Samoa.

On his Instagram, Tonumaipea wrote: “It’s been a privilege to play NRL this year considering the circumstances of 2020.

“Thank you Gold Coast Titans for taking the chance on me after two years out of the game.

“Thanks to the lads for a hectic season, and to the fans who have stuck with us through the bad and now good times.”
