Sheffield Eagles forward Joel Farrell says his side do not fear anybody ahead of their 1895 Cup semi-final against Leigh on Sunday.

The Eagles make the journey to Leigh Sports Village hoping to reach a second 1895 Cup Final at the end of the month.

Sheffield won the first instalment of the competition in 2019. They beat Widnes 36-18 at Wembley.

Meanwhile, Leigh are hoping to reach the final for the first time. They were beaten by Widnes in the 2019 semi-finals in their only other appearance in the competition.

The pair have already met at Leigh Sports Village last week, with Leigh claiming a 34-6 win.

Previewing the game, Farrell told the club website: “We won’t beat them by fitness, we’re not going to get people tired so we just need to be really clinical, the timing and our lines have to be perfect.

“If we can do that, we give ourselves a chance of winning. We’re confident for every game, that’s the thing about this team this year.

“We don’t fear anyone, we’re not worried about anyone, we go out there and do our best.

Farrell desperate to get Sheffield to final

Farrell was part of the Sheffield team that lifted the 1895 Cup back in 2019. Though the venue may be different this year, he still is desperate to win it again.

He said he and a few others have been telling other members of the squad about the experience.

He added: “We know if we’re at our best on this day, we can beat anyone. Anything can happen in cup rugby. A few of us have been there before and won it.

“The final is at Tottenham this time, a stadium we’ve never played at, so I’m desperate to go back and win it again.

“I know all the boys are excited and we’ve been telling some of the new ones about the weekend away when we won at Wembley and how it is the highlight of our careers.”
