Warrington boss Daryl Powell says his side lack confidence and concentration under pressure following their home defeat to Hull KR.

His side were leading 22-12 with just 15 minutes to go at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. However, tries from Ethan Ryan, Matt Parcell and Sam Royle saw Rovers turn it around for a 30-22 result.

It marked Warrington’s 13th loss of the season, and just three weeks after falling to a comeback at home to Salford.

Daryl Powell: ‘We don’t concentrate for long enough’

“When we are in that heat of the battle at the back end of games we don’t handle it well,” said a disappointed Powell.

“We don’t concentrate for long enough.

“It’s almost like watching a film at the moment that you’ve seen before.

“I don’t think we read and concentrate for long enough when we’re in the heat of battle. The only thing we can change are things in our control. Our own concentration is one of those things.

“I think we saw a group of blokes who worked hard for each other. We just lack confidence when we’re going into the back-end of games when it’s on the line. That’s what got us today.

“It so frustrating because we were in a great position and pieced our points together really well but we are not managing the end of games well at all. We get put under pressure and we panic under pressure or lack concentration and it’s hurting us big time.

“It’s a harsh 15 minute lesson I think for us.

“We are all responsible but I have to accept ultimate responsibility. The boys are working hard but mentally breaking down when it really matters and to change that is probably the hardest thing to change in a team.”
