Trent Merrin is homesick, says Penrith star Reagan Campbell-Gillard

Penrith forward Reagan Campbell-Gillard says his former team-mate Trent Merrin is homesick.

Merrin arrived at Leeds Rhinos from the Panthers in the off-season on a four-year marquee contract.

Reports have linked the 29-year-old with a move to St George Illawarra to replace the stood down Jack de Belin.

“I think he’s pretty much homesick,” Campbell-Gillard told Triple M.

“Their team is not going too well. Mez is a competitor and doesn’t like losing.

“I think he’s a little bit low the moment, also with no wins and a bit of a pressure as a key signing or a marquee signing for them.

“He doesn’t handle pressure too well, I know that for a fact. It would be nice to see him come back [to the NRL], but I’m not too sure.”
