Toronto claim League 1 title

Toronto Wolfpack secured the League 1 title and promotion to the Championship with a 26-2 win over Barrow.

They were presented with the trophy in front of 7,972 supporters at Lamport Stadium following a magnificent maiden season in rugby league.

The Canadians have racked up 1138 points in 21 games, conceding just 229, and have lost just once – to York, while also drawing with Keighley.

Barrow, who have been beaten twice in Toronto this season, currently lead the chasing pack with one other promotion place up for grabs.

That will be decided by a play-off series involving the next four teams, which currently includes the Raiders, Whitehaven, York and Doncaster.

In the previous two seasons, the team to finish top of League 1 hadn’t been guaranteed promotion.
