Taumalolo keen on NFL trials

North Queensland forward Jason Taumalolo wants to travel to America at the end of the NRL season and train with NFL teams.

The Kiwi international is interested in following the footsteps of Jarryd Hayne and switching to the NFL.

Taumalolo wants to test the waters at the end of the year but this would conflict with New Zealand‘s involvement in the Four Nations in the UK.

Tom Burgess recently trained with five teams in the NFL.

The 22-year old said he is contemplating a trip at the end of 2016.

“Maybe in the off-season we will see what happens there,” Taumalolo told foxsports.com.au.

“A few boys last off-season went and had trials so it will be interesting to see what happens next off-season.

“I guess it’s a long-term thing, Cowboys are my main priority.”

“I’ve never hung out with (Jarryd Hayne) but what he’s done with himself and to get to the position he has is remarkable.

“It proves anything is possible if you dream big. Jarryd wanted to play NFL and he went over and did it.

“I think that gives a lot of young kids the motivation to play in the NRL and in the NFL.”
