St Helens chief thanks supporters and Souths

St Helens chief executive Mike Rush has hailed his club’s fans, as well as the South Sydney Rabbitohs, for making the World Club Challenge such a great event.

Although Saints were thrashed 39-0 by Souths, Rush feels that the whole event was very positive on all fronts.

“On behalf of the chairman, the board of directors and everyone at the club, I’d like to thank everyone who was part of last night’s historic occasion at Langtree Park,” Rush told his club’s official website.

“Whilst the result wasn’t what we wanted and we were beaten by one of the best ever club rugby league sides in history, it’s clear the event at Langtree Park was a fantastic one and there’s no doubt the World Club Series as a concept is set to grow.

“I like to thank the Bunnies for travelling over to England and being part of not only the game, but the events leading up to it.

“They came to our free community event and gave the kids from the community clubs memories they will cherish forever.

“Thanks must also go to Blake Solly, the general manager of the First Utility Super League, and his team, for helping to pull the event together.

“The players and coaching staff are already back in training and working hard for this Friday’s Super League tie with Castleford Tigers and with your support we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
