Salford and Saints launch stadium webcams

Salford have launched a live webcam focused on the site of their new stadium, so fans can track its progress.

The City Reds are looking to move in to their new ground for the start of the 2012 campaign, and all eyes are on its development following the news that the construction phase is about to start.

Updating every five seconds, the camera will show the stadium grow from its foundation to completion over the next few months.

Reds’ Communications Manager Paul McNally said: “I feel a bit sorry for employers who have Reds’ fans in their ranks. We have been staring at it pretty much non-stop since we got the link so there’s going to be a lot of time spent viewing it over the next 12 months as the really exciting stuff begins to go up.”

Meanwhile, Super League rivals St Helens have also launched a similar webcam, showing progress at their new stadium site.

Saints moved out of Knowsley Road at the end of last season and will play their home games at Widnes’ Stobart Stadium in 2011.
