Rochdale vs Oldham friendly postponed

Rochdale Hornets‘ friendly with Oldham today at Spotland Stadium has been postponed.

The heavy snow has meant that the public areas in and around the ground are deemed unsafe. The match could potentially be replayed on January 31.

“The club also took into account the safety of supporters, players and staff travelling to the fixture by car,” Rochdale said in a statement.

T”he Spotland pitch was rated as 50/50 at best early this morning but the shear amount of work needed to clear snow off the covers, from the car park and the gangways to get the stadium to code is too much of a task, given the doubts over the pitch.

“We have identified Sunday 31st January as a potential re-arrangement date but this is subject to confirmation from both the RFL and Oldham RLFC, who have to consider player availability and the eary start of their league season the following week.

“We hope to make a further announcement early next week.

“All tickets and hospitality purchased for the game will still be valid if the game is to be re-arranged. Refunds will be made available once the fixture is confirmed.”
