Rochdale and Oldham friendly pushed back

Rochdale’s Law Cup fixture against Oldham has been pushed back to Wednesday Janaury 10 (7.45pm).

The game was due to take place this Sunday but with standing water on the pitch and torrential rain forecast going in to the weekend, the decision was made to move the game to give ground staff extra time to prepare.

Hornets CEO, Steve Kerr, told the club’s official website: “We have worked extensively with Rochdale AFC to get this game on and have explored every possible avenue but the truth of the matter is the ground staff have worked tirelessly to get the pitch ready but are fighting an uphill battle with the weather.

“I have seen the work they have put in this week and I thank them for that, they also share our frustration.

“We are confident that, as the weather is forecast to dry up over the weekend, another five days will give the ground staff ample time to repair the surface as they will utilise waterproof covers and specialist machinery ready for three games in a week as the football club face Lincoln City on Tuesday and we obviously take on Oldham and Warrington in the space of three days.”
