Bradford centre Adrian Purtell spent the night in hospital after being taken ill following their Magic Weekend defeat against Leeds.

Purtell, 27, began to feel unwell on the coach trip back to Bradford, forcing the driver to stop twice on the way home so Purtell could receive medical treatment. He was placed on a drip by the team doctor before immediately being taken to hospital.

Bradford football manager Stuart Duffy said: “Adrian’s condition was giving cause for concern and the club doctor, Donald Young, advised that he should be taken to hospital immediately.

“The bus went to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where Adrian was detained and he was later transferred to the Leeds General Infirmary where he spent the night.”

The Bulls have not confirmed the exact nature of Purtell’s illness.

Temperatures reached a high of 24.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon, with sunshine bathing the Etihad Stadium on the final day of the Magic Weekend.
