Harlequins captain, Rob Purdham has been forced to withdraw from Saturday’s match against Leeds after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot in his hand.

The 29-year-old had complained of circulation problems in his hand. After medical consultations, he was advised to have stay overnight in hospital and this morning had surgery on his hand to remove the clot.

Head coach Brian McDermott said: “Rob could be back as early as next week but we don’t know at this stage. The team and I all hope he has a speedy recovery.”

Ben Kaye will now join the Harlequins squad that play the Super League champions tomorrow evening. The 20-year-old hooker joined Harlequins from the Rhinos at the beginning of this season.
