Dewsbury captain Paul Sykes has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 38-year-old joined the Rams in 2016, scoring 24 tries and kicking 276 goals in 105 appearances.

Sykes will become an assistant coach at Dewsbury in 2020 as well as continuing in his role as club captain.

Dewsbury coach Lee Greenwood said: “I feel this is a great move for all parties involved.

“Paul wants to finish his playing career here whilst starting on his coaching path.

“We have gone through a change with backroom staff and I believe the coaching team will complement each other well.

“Paul will add a very experience and respected voice from a coaching perspective now, as well as his influence as a player.”
