Sky Sports pundit Jon Wells has linked England international and current Dolphins centre Oliver Gildart with a return to Super League.

Gildart, 26, is yet to feature in the NRL in 2023, having linked up with the Dolphins during the off-season from Wests Tigers.

He finished last year on loan at Sydney Roosters, making two appearances under Trent Robinson at the back end of the year.

Speaking ahead of Salford’s home clash with Castleford in Super League, Wells believes that Leigh could be in the frame of signing the former Wigan man.

Adrian Lam has previously admitted that there is salary cap space left at the Leopards, having one of the smallest squads in the competition.

The 52-year-old head coach previously stated that he is constantly monitoring available players with room left on their salary cap in 2023, most likely due to Ferguson’s release earlier this year.

Lam previously said: “There is some cap left. We are going to be looking every week, every month and every part of the season to help grow the squad.

“Derek Beaumont has been very supportive and very direct in his philosophy of what we want to be and who we want to be as a club.

“The players that are here at the moment, we’re very happy with and are doing a pretty good job with a lot of improvement left in us.

“We’ll keep that door open and talk and negotiate with who we think fits the right position and places within the group.”
