Newcastle stalwart Rhys Clarke pens new deal

Newcastle forward Rhys Clark has signed a new one-year deal with the League 1 club.

The 28-year-old back-rower has made more than 140 appearances for the club across two stints on Tyneside in a career that started back in 2009.

Thunder coach Simon Finnigan said: “Rhys had a really good year last season and he should be happy with himself.

“He was playing very well and is a natural rugby player and I love having that sort of person in the squad.

“Even though he’s experienced, he’s still got things he can fix but there are things I can’t tell him to do or coach him to do that he will just produce on the field.

“Also, he’s from the area so I am more than pleased that he’s signed on for another year.”
