Bradford hooker Sam Hallas says it is a massive honour to be the club’s vice-captain for the 2020 season.

The 23-year-old will be vice-captain to prop Steve Crossley, who will continue in his role as first-team captain next year.

Hallas said: “It is a massive honour and is something I am looking forward to taking on, I just want to lead as best as I can and play my usual game.

“I’ve played with a lot of good, quality, experienced players and I have learnt a lot from them over the years even though I am only 23.

“Steve is a great captain and if I can help him in any way I can then I will.

“It will be a mad feeling leading the side out and it is an honour to be the full-time vice captain of this group of players.”

Bulls coach John Kear added: “I feel we needed someone in the circumstances this season who is tough, hardworking, wholehearted and never gives up and if you summarise Sam Hallas then that is what you’ve got.

“I love his attitude. When he re-signed he said ‘I am not here to fight relegation, I want to get in the play-offs’ – I love that positivity, belief and desire.

“That is the reason he is vice-captain and that is the reason he will do a great job.

“He leads by example and pushes himself and I am delighted with him and Steve, who is continuing as captain for 2020.”
