Milford to honour Broncos switch

Canberra full-back Anthony Milford will honour the deal he has signed to join Brisbane Broncos from next season.

Milford, 19, starred for Samoa at last autumn’s World Cup, scoring 22 points in four games, including a try against France.

He has scored 11 tries in 27 NRL appearances to date, and signed a two-year deal with the Broncos for 2015 and 2016, but had until Round 13 to change his mind, because the NRL doesn’t register contracts for the following season before then.

Milford said: “This was a very tough decision for me and my family and I want to thank everyone at the Raiders for everything they have done for me.

“I’ve been with the club since I was awarded a scholarship at the age of 13. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the Raiders and I will never forget the support they’ve given me.

“I’m 100 per cent committed to the Raiders for the rest of the season and I look forward to helping the team play well for the rest of the year.”

Since the World Cup, Milford has made himself unavailable for Samoa to concentrate on earning a place in the Queensland State of Origin team.
