Micky McIlorum suffers pectoral injury

Catalans hooker Micky McIlorum has suffered a damaged pectoral muscle and will be out of action for a number of weeks.

Dragons’ boss Steve McNamara has confirmed the Ireland international, who suffered the injury in Saturday’s 46-0 defeat by Salford Red Devils in Perpignan, does not require surgery but will be sidelined for ‘a number of weeks’.

Alrix Da Costa, who is McIlorum’s back-up hooker at Catalans, is 50/50 as to whether he will be available for Sunday’s trip to Hull KR after sustaining a rib injury while playing for the reserves against Albi last month.

Da Costa was ruled out for three to four weeks with rib cartilage damage at the time.

If Da Costa doesn’t pass a late fitness test, the Dragons could call upon back-rower Ben Garcia to fill the void or young half-back, Lucas Albert.
