McGuire to have plate fitted

Leeds stand-off Danny McGuire will have a plate fitted on his broken leg on Friday to help speed up his recovery.

McGuire, 30, suffered the injury during last weekend’s defeat to Hull, and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Also injured in the same match was centre Kallum Watkins, who suffered ligament damage and is currently awaiting a scan to determine its severity.

The Rhinos are hoping to find out by the weekend just how long they will be without the two England internationals.

Head Coach Brian McDermott said: “It is deeply disappointing for both players especially as they have had frustrations in recent years with other injuries they have suffered however they know they have everyone’s support.”

McDermott is hopeful of welcoming back injured trio Jamie Peacock, Carl Ablett and Ben Jones-Bishop in the next few weeks.
