The RFL will welcome Marie Curie nurses to lead the Super League teams out at Magic Weekend.

The charities’ expert hospice teams work to care for and support patients and their families living with a terminal illness and help them make the most of the time they have together.

Six nurses from the Marie Curie Hospice in Newcastle will lead each Super League side on to the pitch for all three top-tier fixtures on Saturday, May 19.

Judith Wilson, one of the nurses selected to lead a team out at St James’ Park, is made up to help raise money for Marie Curie at Magic Weekend.

She said: “This is a great opportunity for me to combine my two major passions in life, raising money for Marie Curie, whom I’ve been employed by for the past 23 years in the community as a senior health care assistant, and rugby!

“I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my Saturday off.”

Volunteers from Marie Curie will also hold a bucket collection on the day around St James’ Park.

Magic Weekend takes place on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20 at St James’ Park, home of Newcastle United FC.
