Doncaster have confirmed the signing of PNG international Makali Aizue for the 2016 season.

The former Hull KR man joins after a spell with Dewsbury Rams, whom he joined in 2013.

“We have been looking to bring in some experience in the front row and build a respected, balanced and aggressive pack of forwards,” said Dons coach Gary Thornton.

“Makali’s experience and proven playing record at Championship level will be invaluable for us in League 1 next season.

“His no-nonsense style and aggressive running will give us the go forward momentum, get us on the front foot and help our pivots and nine’s to play the way we want to play.

“It gives us a real aggressive look about our pack and I am delighted he has decided to join us.

“He is a very respected player within our game, and had other options available to him but we have sold him our vision and our hopes for 2016 and he wants to be part of that.”

Dons chief executive Carl Hall revealed that he had been pursuing the forward’s signature for some time, and he was delighted to have concluded a deal.

“Makali is a player I have been chasing for a long time and I am delighted to get this deal over the line.

“He is a proven international and Championship player, we have beaten a tremendous amount of competition to get his signature and I have no doubt that he will be a fans favourite here at the Keepmaot Stadium.

“I can’t wait to see him in action.

“I’d also like to thank Dewsbury Rams, particularly Glenn Morrison and Mark Sawyer who have been great in helping us secure Makali for 2016.”
