Leigh have given Scotland hooker Liam Hood a new one-year contract.

The 27-year-old returned to the Centurions in March from Widnes having left at the end of the 2018 season. Hood made 25 appearances for Leigh last season and has earned seven caps for Scotland.

Centurions coach John Duffy said: “I have known Liam a long time through my involvement with Scotland and he’s a true competitor.

“Liam can change a game in the blink of an eye and he’s a real quality player but I want him to kick on and become a leader now.

“I want Liam to take on that challenge, especially now Micky Higham has retired. Someone has got to take ownership of that role now and I think he’s got it in him.

“He’s got to have a big off-season and we will looking for some big minutes from him during the season.”
