Leigh bring in Ben Hellewell from London

Drew Darbyshire

Leigh have signed Scotland international Ben Hellewell from London for 2020.

The 28-year-old centre has been at the Broncos since 2015, scoring 47 tries in 109 appearances for the club. He has earned 14 caps for Scotland on the international stage.

Centurions coach John Duffy commented: “Benny played centre at Featherstone for a few years before going to London but he didn’t really get his chance this year.

“I see him more as a back-rower and that’s a position where he will excel because he’s a real tough lad.

“He’s a no-nonsense type of player who will get through his work and probably be unnoticed.

“When I had him in the back-row at Scotland, he was playing against big teams like the Kiwis and he was outstanding. When he’s on his game, he’s superb.”
