Mark Ioane has extended his London Broncos contract until at least 2019.

The 26-year-old prop forward joined the Broncos in 2015 from NRL side, St George Illawarra, and missed only a single game in his first season. Ioane has since made 45 appearances in London colours, scoring nine tries.

Ioane said: “I’m excited for what the future holds – I’m glad to be here. That’s a credit to my teammates for helping out the past year and making me feel comfortable, and the coaching staff too. I’ve enjoyed my time here and I’m looking forward to the future.

“On field and off field I’m enjoying myself in London, and that’s a huge credit to the club.

“I had a few clubs in mind – I’d always wanted to play Super League since I moved here. With the team we have here – we do have the ability to get up there, and to compete with the best. I think we’ll be able to do the job if we get promoted.

“There were a few other clubs who were interested, but I just wanted to show loyalty towards the London Broncos since they’ve given me the opportunity to come here, experience life here, and play footy here.”

Broncos’ boss Andrew Henderson added: “I’m very pleased to retain Mark for a further two years as he has been brilliant in his time here so far. Mark is a big part of our team at the moment and will continue to be moving forward.

“He has performed consistently well so far, giving us great go forward and a high work rate. I feel he has showed that he is a Super League quality player, and would handle the step up when the day comes.

“Mark is a popular figure within the group, fantastic to work with and a man of good character. The coaches and I look forward to continuing our work with Mark and seeing him continue to add value to the team.

“Once again it is fantastic that players of Mark’s calibre want to stay and play for London. It further demonstrates our intent, and the quality environment and programme we run here at the Broncos.

“The players truly believe what we stand for, what we are aiming for, and therefore want to be part of it.”
