Hunslet aiming for play-offs

Hunslet loose forward David March says they have set their sights on a play-off place in the Championship this season.

March, 32, scored three tries in 17 league appearances last season as Hunslet finished in seventh place, although they were some 16 points short of sixth placed Halifax.

With Barrow tumbling out of the league via a points deduction, Toulouse opting to return to France and Widnes going up to Super League, it’s all change in the Championship this season.

Keighley and Swinton earned promotion from Championship 1 last season, which means the league will operate this term with 10 teams.

March said: “As a group of players, we’ve talked about it, and it’s our goal to reach the play-offs.

“If you don’t have goals, you don’t strive to achieve them. We’re looking forward to the challenge, and we’ve got a lot of players with a point to prove.”

Hunslet open up their league campaign on March 11th with a trip to Halifax, before they host Sheffield on March 18th.
