Hull’s Carlos Tuimavave out for the season after surgery

Hull centre Carlos Tuimavave has confirmed via Instagram that he will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury.
The Samoan international joined Hull in 2016, winning the Challenge Cup in his inaugural year. He then helped the Black and Whites to a second consecutive Challenge Cup success in 2017.
Tuimavave, 30, missed the first six games of this season with a hamstring injury. Suffering this latest set back in last week’s defeat to Catalans, he confirmed his season was over with the following post on Instagram (@carlostuimavave).

“Sad to confirm my 2022 season is over, will get surgery on my Achilles’ tendon today then start my road to recovery.
“I want to thank my family and everyone that has reached out and sent me messages over the last few days.
“It means a lot and I appreciate you all. I’ll do everything I can to return back bigger and better!
“See you all in 2023.”
Former New Zealand Warriors and Newcastle Knights man Tuimavave has so far made 136 appearances for Hull.
New Zealand-born, he has scored 44 times to date in his six years at the MKM Stadium. He is currently under contract until 2024. The Achilles issue will also rule him out of contention for World Cup action later this year with Samoa.
Piling Up
Tuimavave isn’t the first player to have been sidelined for Brett Hodgson’s Hull side this season.
Full back Jake Connor is expected to be out for at least a further 10 weeks. He injured his medial ligament during a defeat to Wakefield earlier this month.
Ex-Wigan man Scott Taylor was also out of action for a long spell at the beginning of the season. Meanwhile, Tuimavave will join back rower Andre Savelio in being out of action for the foreseeable.
Savelio suffered a season-ending ACL injury during Hull’s Good Friday derby defeat to cross-city rivals Hull KR at Craven Park.
