Hull KR have confirmed the signing of Bradford back-rower Matt Cook on a two-year deal.

Cook signed for Bradford Bulls in 2003 from Saracens RFC and rapidly developed through the grades at Bradford under the watchful eye of Brian Noble and Steve McNamara regularly pushing for a first team spot making more than 50 appearances.

He said: “I am ready for a new challenge. The Robins have come a long way in such a short space of time under the guidance of Justin Morgan. It will be great for my development as a player to be coached by Justin and his team; I enjoyed Bulls & would like to thank the fans & players for all the support they gave me.

“Joining Rovers is absolutely brilliant, a tremendous opportunity for me. They are a great club with fantastic supporters & I can’t wait for next season. I’m really looking forward to getting started”

The powerful 23-year-old will add brute force and mobility to the Rovers pack and Morgan is delighted that Cook will join the Red and Whites next season, believing that he will offer the side a versatility that is much needed.

Morgan commented: “Matt is a tremendous young talent and will bring a huge amount of versatility to our side he can play back row, centre & even front row when called upon. He has plenty of mobility for a big man. I’m sure he will enjoy our style of rugby and continue to develop as a player.”
