Hull FC have signed winger Matty Dawson-Jones and forward Jordan Thompson on two-year contracts.

Dawson-Jones, 28, joins from Leigh Centurions after scoring 18 tries in 28 appearances in the Championship last season.

The former St Helens and Huddersfield Giants outside-back was Leigh’s top try-scorer in Super League in 2017, scoring 17 tries.

On his new deal, Dawson-Jones said: “I’m coming here with a point to prove and I jumped at the opportunity play for Hull.

“As soon as I heard they were interested in me it was only a matter of time, once I had spoken with the club I didn’t want to go anywhere. It was a no-brainer.

“They’ve got some good people here, a really good setup and the history and fanbase speaks for itself.

“I have spoken to a couple of the boys who have played at Hull and they all spoke very highly of the club and the atmosphere, so I’m really excited for that.”

Thompson has re-joined the Black and Whites from Leigh after making 103 appearances in a four-year spell at the club.

The back-rower or loose forward was a key member of Hull’s back-to-back Challenge Cup winning squads in 2016 and 2017.

Thompson said: “It’s good to be back, it really is like coming home for me and I’m determined to go one step further than I did when I was last here.

“I have some unfinished business here so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in during pre-season.

“I feel in 2017, I maybe became a bit complacent, so moving away from the club I’ve loved for the past four years to play at Leigh and Leeds really opened my eyes.

“I’ve been playing some good rugby during my time away from the club. I think I’m a better player now than when I left this time last year.”

Dawson-Jones and Thompson join new Hull’s new signings Danny Langtree, Levy Nzoungou, Charlie Graham and Andrew Bulman for the 2019 season.
