Huddersfield’s forward pack is as good as any in Super League, says Simon Woolford

Huddersfield coach Simon Woolford says his forward pack is up there with the best in Super League.

The Giants edged past Salford 12-10 at the AJ Bell Stadium on Friday night.

Aidan Sezer added a penalty goal late on to seal the victory for Huddersfield after Salford half-back Kevin Brown was sin-binned for a headbutt on Jordan Turner.

Woolford said: “We would have lost that game 100 times out of 100 last season but the harder you work the luckier you become.

“I thought a couple of decisions late in the game went our way but our attitude towards defending our line was there for all to see.

“It was a tough call for the referee to make (the match-winning penalty) after such a physical game. I think our forward pack is as good as any in the competition but our last tackle options weren’t always there tonight.

“The most important thing for me is that we found a way to win. You don’t win competitions in February but you can certainly lose them – we saw that last year when we won just one of our last six and our season was dead and buried. We have recruited really well and have a healthy squad so that helps.”
